Monday Night Alternate Audio: San Francisco Football Team and Washington Football Team

Share |

For all the things that the team nickname of Washington's NFL Entry stands for -- tradition and brand equity, per the team's owner and Peevy Puppet-Dad Rick Reilly; one of the most shameful crimes in American history for everyone else -- there is also the grim fact that it is the name of Washington's NFL Entry. It would be difficult to talk about that football team for any extended period of time, let alone throughout an entire game in which that team is playing, without mentioning that team's name. It's not even easy to do in this blog post, honestly.

But what sets the Footballz Podcast apart from ESPN's Monday Night Football crew -- besides listenability, humor, Jaworski Factor and the fact that they're our buddies and Tirico and The Classical have never been close -- is that they're going to try. And so our heroes will endeavor to get through tonight's game between the San Franciscos and the Washingtons (note: not an effective team-nickname substitute) without using Washington's branded slur of a team name. This will be a challenge, but so is talking about Monday Night Football during Monday Night Football, and Footballz pulls that off with grace every week. We would be unwise to count them out.

Instead, let's join them and support their work. Their guests tonight will be Jason Hirschhorn from the Packers blog Acme Packing Company and WMBR/Somerville Speakout host Patrick Bryant, who'll join Mac and TD in studio. You can join them either below, or at, and join them via chat at either site. The show starts, as usual, around 8:30pm. You would do wise to mute the game and listen to this instead. What they attempt tonight may be impossible, but it'll definitely be better than whatever Jaws and them come up with.

And the chat is below:
