Dana White is more than the commissioner of the UFC and a human energy drink. He is a valuable source of convoluted, condescending and unconvincing explanations for his league's lousy television ratings, if only you dummies would listen up.

In some ways, Mixed Martial Arts has never been better. But those record revenues and must-watch fights come at a cost—and until the sport acknowledges and addresses its rotten culture, it will never be what it could and should be. That would be a shame. In fact, it already is.

Thanks to Dakota Cochrane's inclusion in the next season of The Ultimate Fighter, UFC is getting high-fives for not discriminating against a fighter who dabbled in gay pornography. That says more about our expectations in re: UFC than it does about anything else.

It took Junior dos Santos 64 seconds to claim the UFC heavyweight title from Cain Velasquez on Saturday night. The punch that took it was a well-timed and even more well-placed overhand right that left Velasquez effectively defenseless. MMA is not a sport that easily lends itself to comebacks. Abrupt endings are inevitable when a 240-pound man wants badly enough to make you unconscious.
