Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman's entourage each took about ten minutes to reach the octagon, and from the moment the two combatants decided to forgo the ceremonial touching of gloves, we knew this was going to be a fight. And there is nothing like being at a fight.

There was nothing scripted about the recent Clay Guida-Gray Maynard fight in Atlantic City. Which made it all the more amazing that the fight, and the fighters, couldn't have followed a classic wrestling script any more perfectly.

The Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey is maybe 60 percent full for UFC on Fox 3, but that’s about how full the Izod Center should be for any event. The crowd that did show up is not satisfied with the offerings.  A fighter gets poked in the eye and the fans boo, for reasons known only to them.

In some ways, Mixed Martial Arts has never been better. But those record revenues and must-watch fights come at a cost—and until the sport acknowledges and addresses its rotten culture, it will never be what it could and should be. That would be a shame. In fact, it already is.
