    With the States only sending two competitors to London, American "synchro" is in danger of sinking into obscurity.  The rise of the Russians, and a shift in focus from artistry to athleticism, has left U.S. synchronized swimming treading water for the first time since the sport's introduction at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
